A Predictive Inflationary Scenario Without The Gauge Singlet

چکیده

We propose a new realization of the chaotic inflationary scenario in which the scalar field responsible for inflation also spontaneously breaks the underlying gauge symmetry at a superheavy scale ∼ 1015− 1017 GeV . A possible framework is provided by the superstring inspired gauge models, in which case several predictions are essentially model independent. The spectral index for the scalar perturbations n ≃ 0.92− 0.88, while the ratio of the tensor to the scalar quadrupole anisotropy is (∆T/T )T /(∆T/T ) 2 S ≈ 0.4 − 0.7. On smaller angular scales, δT/T (1) ≈ (9− 16)× 10−6 and δT/T (2.1) ≈ (6− 10)× 10−6. Implications for magnetic monopoles and cosmic strings as well as the gauge hierarchy problem are pointed out. ∗Supported in part by DOE Grant No. DE-FG02-91ER40626 and NATO Grant No. CRG-910573

Candidates for Inflaton in Quiver Gauge Theory

The inflaton necessary to implement the mechanism of inflationary cosmology has natural candidates in quiver gauge theory. We discuss the dimensionless coefficients of quartic couplings and enumerate scalars which are singlet under the low-energy gauge group. The inflaton mass is generally predicted to be in the TeV region, close to 4 TeV for one specific unified model. A quartic inflaton poten...

Nonthermal leptogenesis with almost degenerate superheavy neutrinos

We present a model with minimal assumptions for nonthermal leptogenesis with almost degenerate superheavy right-handed neutrinos in a supersymmetric setup. In this scenario the gauge singlet inflaton is directly coupled to the right-handed ~s!neutrinos with a mass heavier than the inflaton mass. This helps to avoid potential problems which can naturally arise otherwise. The inflaton decays into...

Inflation and the Nature of Supersymmetry Breaking

The scale at which supersymmetry is broken and the mechanism by which supersymmetry breaking is fed down to the observable sector has rich implications on the way Nature may have chosen to accomplish inflation. We discuss a simple model for slow rollover inflation which is minimal in the sense that the inflaton may be identified with the field responsible for the generation of the μ-term. Infla...

Constraints on Supergravity Chaotic Inflationary Models

We discuss, in the context of N = 1 hidden sector non-minimal supergravity chaotic inflationary models, constraints on the parameters of a polynomial superpotential resulting from existing bounds on the reheating temperature and on the amplitude of the primordial energy density fluctuations as inferred from COBE. We present a specific two-parameter chaotic inflationary model which satisfies the...

Hybrid Inflation and Supergravity

Hybrid inflation is a natural scenario in the absence of supersymmetry. In the context of supergravity, however, it has to face the naturalness problems of the initial conditions and of the adequate suppression of the inflaton mass. Both can be successfully addressed in a class of models involving Kähler potentials associated with products of SU(1, 1)/U(1) Kähler manifolds and “decoupled” field...
